What this is about

This page is the starting point for a series of puzzles. Everyone who came here just wants to have some fun solving them, so please don’t spoil this fun. In particular:

• Do not give away the solution to any puzzles. Not in private and particularly not publicly!
• Feel free to solve puzzles in groups or compare notes on puzzles you are each stuck on.
• When helping others focus on teaching them what they need to know as general as possible and not guide them step-by-step through the specific challenge.

Where to start

Go back to the main page and have a go at the three puzzles that are linked there. We are sure that you will be able to solve at least one of them :-)

Naming scheme

Some of the puzzles follow a clear naming scheme. 1xp, 2xp, 3xp - and maybe even others - indicate the level of prior knowledge that is required for the puzzle. Typically in logic or programming directions. Puzzles with the same suffix (eg. -1 or -2) have a common theme, so eg. 1xp-1 and 3xp-1 are both concerned with logical circuits, but while 1xp-1 can be solved without much prior knowledge and by hand, 3xp-1 assumes you are willing to write a small program to help out. So if you are stuck with 2xp-1 try to solve 1xp-1 first as it might give you some insight and, vice versa, if 1xp-1 was no challenge for you try to solve 2xp-1 as well.

Beyond this naming scheme there are also a lot of secrets and sidetracks to be found so be sure to keep your eyes open :-)

Why Discord

There are a couple of issues we have with Discord. In particular it is not end-to-end encrypted and it is very nosy (allegedly only to correctly display to others when you are playing a game…). For practicality reasons we have decided to stick with it for the time being though. If you are worried by the above points you can use the web version of discord and register your account with a non-existent email address.

Interaction

This is a public event. Feel free to invite anyone you like. For the time being please don’t share the link publicly though. And while it would be nice if we didn’t even have to mention this, we do want to make it absolutly unambiguous: absolutely no form of discrimination, harassment or hatespeech will be tolerated. That includes alleged ‘jokes’ with sexist, racist or similar content and is irrespective of the medium chosen to communicate.
